If you already know how to crochet a basic granny square and a solid granny square, you’ll feel right at home with this pattern. And if you’re still learning — don’t worry! I’ll guide you through everything step by step and point you to my beginner tutorials along the way.

Let’s crochet some love. 🧢❤️

Before You Begin

If this is your first time working with granny squares, I highly recommend checking out these beginner tutorials before starting:

Both tutorials will walk you through the basic structure, corner placement, and stitch flow — which will make this heart version so much easier and more enjoyable to follow.

Materials You’ll Need

To create your Solid Heart Granny Square, you’ll need just a few simple supplies:

Yarn (2 Colors)

Choose any yarn you love! One color for the heart center and one color for the outer square.

✨ I personally recommend:

  • Worsted weight acrylic or cotton yarn

  • Soft baby yarn for blankets

  • Color-changing yarn for a fun effect

Crochet Hook – 5mm

A 5mm hook works beautifully with worsted weight yarn and creates a nice balanced fabric.
